The Spiritual Challenge of "Surrendering Personal Will to Divine Will"

Exploring and experiencing the energies of the fifth chakra brings us closer to letting go of the painful ego state that we built up in the first three chakras to satisfy our sensory perceptions and our need to survive in the world. Now it is time to expand ourselves to encompass the universe and acknowledge God's plan for each of us.

Because this chakra's energies feed the throat and the mouth, it is essential to our understanding of responsibilities associated with communication with others. We know deep down that we are meant not to hurt others, and now the fifth chakra is apparently the gateway to non-judgment, Right Speech (in Buddhist terms), honesty and integrity in all that we say, think or do. A very tough assignment!

Psychotherapy and twelve-steps progams, indeed the sacrament of Confession, allow us to release toxins from our past and to heal ourselves. This is a cleansing of the Spirit in its most purifying form. However, it only happens once we give up! Once we surrender our will, offering up our suffering, release our burdens of negativity in thought, word and deed to a MUCH HIGHER POWER THAN OURSELVES. This basic recognition is the most healing thing we can do in face of our humanness.

Releasing our karmic past is freedom—not from responsibility, but from the negative consequences of our previous lives and actions. This is also a primal key awareness: we do not need our attachment to positive karma either! Things do not have to work out!

Once our goal is to reach neutrality, we become closer to identifying with the Absolute. We become closer to understanding how we have been created in the image of God. We become closer to being fully present without needing either blame or praise to define who we are.

Exploring and Experiencing Our Godliness

Day 5

Morning session:
This is a difficult session after opening up heart: our challenge is to willingly enter a space where we acknowledge our shortcomings and agree to let them go. Attachment to suffering, and all its accompanying roles (victim/persecutor), is a huge pattern of behavior to release from our lives. We will work with this "giving up" state of awareness through a ritual activity involving sharing our stories in journal form. Then those who are comfortable will read them outloud.

The concept of Grace will be explored in relation to synchronicity and what we have learned about quantum physics. We will experience a ritual at this point (and an activity that can be repeated throughout our days) that will help us reach closure with all forms of negativity, expressed, actualized and unexpressed. Our tears (the diffusion of salt in water) are an important part of this process of giving up and giving away.

Afternoon session:
Lies are poisonous to our health on every energetic level. And yet we are almost compelled to lie, or at least to gossip, and spread the suggestions of untruth all around us. This afternoon we will play a game in order to more fully recognize the Divine Plan that orchestrates our lives. We will be looking back at our lives and looking like detectives for certain clues and consistencies, miracles and synchronicities. Then we will be sharing what we have discovered. We will be consulting our Lifetime Medicine Totems (from Session III) and using our Medicine Shields to assist us in this task.

Receiving the Blessing of Confession

Evening session:
This session culminates in a sacred ritual of Confession as we speak our truth and ask for forgiveness and to be able to forgive others. We are now firmly and consciously entering the realm of Spirit Warriors, and will honor and acknowledge ourselves as such in a smudging and clearing process using white sage and salted water.
